Privacy

What you type or paste into Office Tools is processed in your browser. Analytics receives only categories, such as the feature used, never the values you entered.

What you type or paste

Anything you enter for a calculation or conversion is handled this way:

  • It is processed only in your browser.
  • It is not sent to any server.
  • "Report a problem" at the bottom of the page is a separate Pocketool page, not one of these tools. Only if you sign in with Google there and press send does what you wrote (plus any screenshot you attach, the path of this page and device details) reach the site owner. Please do not include lists or personal information.
  • It is not added to the URL.
  • Dates, numbers and pasted data are not sent to Google Analytics. Only the categories described below are sent.
  • It is not saved in your browser storage (localStorage).

What analytics records

We use Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how people use the site. Neither receives the dates, numbers or data you enter.

  • Cloudflare Web Analytics: Cloudflare, which serves the Pocketool sites, adds it automatically to every page. It records page views, the referring site, country, browser type and page speed. It does not use cookies.
  • Google Analytics: loaded only on the live site (www.pocketool.app). It records page views and the categories each tool sends, described below.
  • Google signals and ad personalization are turned off in Google Analytics.
  • A value called site_market splits visits into the Taiwan, Japanese, English and Korean versions.

What each tool sends to Google Analytics

We send only the feature used and the category chosen. Categories are short codes made of lowercase letters, digits, hyphens and underscores. Before sending, every value is checked again: text that does not fit this format is dropped, and numbers are rounded to whole numbers between 0 and 1,000,000.

  • Every page: a page view, tagged with content_group "office-tools" and site_market "en".
  • Date Calculator: the calculation you ran (days between dates or adding and subtracting); the unit (days, weeks, months, years, or business days); whether your weekly days off are Saturday and Sunday, other days, or none (not which days); whether US federal holidays are turned on; whether you listed other days off (not the dates); whether a result could not be calculated; how many times this page calculated; and how many years of federal holidays you copied for Excel. Selecting a date from the calendar records only that you used the calendar on this tool. The dates and numbers you enter are not sent.
  • Time Card Calculator: your selected rounding option (none, 5, 6 or 15 minutes), your workweek start day, whether you entered an hourly rate, the number of days with hours (0 to 7), the number of calculations on this page, whether you copied the results, and whether you used the calendar to choose the week. Your times, dates, hours, rate and pay are not sent.
  • Time Zone Converter: which feature you used (current time, convert a time, meeting time, or daylight saving time), how many cities you chose, and how many times you used this page. Opening the full-screen clock records only that it was opened and whether it entered full screen. Choosing a date from the calendar records only that the calendar was used on this tool. The cities you choose, your time zone, and the dates and times you enter are not sent.
  • Compare Two Lists: the result tab you copied; the number of rows in both lists and in the copied result; the number of rows that need review; the match type and number of match columns you used; when you download the merged list, its number of rows and how its columns were lined up; and the sample you loaded. Names, emails, phone numbers, and other values in your lists are not sent.

Check it yourself in your browser

Open your browser developer tools and select the Network tab to see every request a page makes. Enter a date or paste sample data into a tool to confirm that none of your input is sent.

You will see requests to load the page and for analytics, but they do not contain the values you entered or pasted.
